Gilman Brewing Pleasanton Speakeasy & Taproom Bar Manager/Bartender/Taproom Lead
This is an Hourly, Tipped position
We are a family here at Gilman Brewing. We have been a very tight group that has had each other’s backs since opening in 2015. Everything we do is about making our beer accessible and making EVERYONE feel welcome and comfortable in our taprooms. We are searching for a local Bar/Taproom Manager who is looking to help lead the newly remodeled Taproom with its new menu of craft cocktails, Berkeley crafted beers and a new food menu featuring Detroit style pizza.
The Taproom Manager is responsible for the management of all daily taproom operations and staff, ensuring that the taproom environment is in line with the overall company standards and ethos in order to provide an exceptional customer experience.
The Taproom Manager is responsible for appropriately staffing all shifts, maintaining inventory levels, ongoing bartender education, maintenance of all draft lines and draft accessories, coordinating taproom events and keeping the taproom clean and hospitable. Prior managerial experience is preferred but not required; bartending experience is a must. If you have a passion for craft cocktails, craft beer, and enjoying working as part of a team, being efficient, reliable, trustworthy, and perceptive with excellent communication and time-management skills then you are the person we are looking for!
Job Tasks
- Willingness to develop and implement daily written checklists/SOPs for the following:
- Opening and closing duties
- Inventory maintenance (especially liquor but also beer, merch, etc)
- Cash handling
- POS operations (Toast)
- Problem solving routine bar issues (e.g. CO2 outage, foamy beer, internet outage/CC reader down, etc)
- Glassware maintenance: cleaning, collecting, restocking, reordering
- Changing kegs
- Checking taps and gas regulators to confirm that they are working properly, changing out kegs when needed
- Bar cleaning
- Gilman Beer portfolio (learning about our beers and our brand, knowing flavor profiles of our beers)
- Greet and socialize with patrons
- Educate patrons on brewing and our beers
- Proper beer pouring
- Tap/Beer Line trouble-shooting
Additional Tasks/expectations
- Maintain consistent company-wide communication via Slack (our project management/internal communication
tool) and email +/- text
- Maintain an orderly and safe work environment within department as well as entire facility
- Participate in regular departmental meetings to review issues and propose solutions,
- Be a team player with ability to interact with all levels within the organization
- Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local laws
- Proudly represent the Gilman brand both on and off site
- Other tasks as assigned.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Positive attitude and strong verbal communication skills
- Passion for Gilman Brewery and the craft beer industry
- Prior experience as a bartender
- General knowledge of craft beer and the brewing process
- Outgoing and friendly demeanor and enjoys a high level of public interaction
- Able to demonstrate integrity and mature judgment
- Ability to problem-solve and work independently in a changing and multi-tasking environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Willing to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays/special events
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires moderate physical efforts; carrying, bending, stretching, stooping, pulling and pushing
- Able to move around full kegs (150lbs) and lift sixtels (50lb)
- Able to use a hand truck and load cases of beer
- Able to stand for six hours uninterrupted
COMPENSATION
- Tipped, hourly position starting at $22/Hr, commensurate with experience
