Think about the last event you went to… where you got dressed up, laughed over delicious bites, and danced with a cocktail in hand. Maybe it was a wedding, or a holiday party… where you just had to pause to admire the décor, and you wondered – who created this magical ambiance?
Well… now, YOU can help!
We’re hiring a Catering & Events Operations Associate to support our Event Producers and Chefs in creating incredible memories, behind the scenes.
Your primary role is working at our warehouse (located in at the boundary of Oakland & Emeryville)
- You will help us manage our inventory of dishware, décor, and all the other supplies that we pull from to create our magical events
- Before events, you will pull all necessary supplies, check that everything is working, and organize, label, and pack things for transport
- After events, you will bring organization back to the chaos! Tracking things down, repairing as needed, and getting it back on the shelf for future use
- You will also ensure the warehouse is clean and strictly organized so that we are ready to support a high volume of events
You will succeed at the primary role if you identify as Monica, from Friends
- You are beyond clean and organized, and you can’t sleep at night knowing something is out of place
- When someone wants to help you clean up after a party, you say: “no way, you had your party, now I have mine”
- You have 11 categories for hand towels and your label maker is always within reach
- You wish there were a smaller vacuum to clean the regular vacuum
Seriously, though! You need to have an exceptional system of organization to keep track of things.
- For example, it may be that some items can’t be packed for an event until they come back from another event, with a tighter than usual turnaround – you will need to manage this transition
- You may also need to manage when we need to rent supplies, ensuring that we keep what’s ours, and return what’s theirs
- You also need to manage reordering/replenishing inventory, to ensure that we are ahead of lead times
- And, have you seen the aftermath of big events? It’s really a mess, and the team on-site at the event will be focused on bringing things back to the warehouse quickly, not necessarily keeping everything in place. That means YOUR job the next day is to sort through everything and get it back to working order as soon as possible.
Your secondary role is to support the actual event and logistics, as needed. For example, you may be called to:
- Work the actual event, especially set-up or take-down
- Drive larger vehicles from the warehouse to the event and back
- Run operational errands such as picking-up or dropping-off supplies, or vehicle maintenance
General requirements therefore will also include:
- Driver’s license and clean driving record (you won’t need a special license, but should be comfortable with larger vans and trucks)
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Some schedule flexibility to support evening or weekend events (this is not a direct event facing role, such as the Chef, Server, or Event Producer, but you may occasionally need to support some events, as mentioned)
- Strong computer skills to help manage inventory and communications (Excel, Word, Google Docs)
We’re paying competitive wages, depending on your experience, with the following benefits:
- Paid time off
- 401k retirement plan
- Medical, vision, dental insurance
- Annual stipend for personal growth
