WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are looking for a Sous Chef to join our dynamic and well known restaurant in Walnut Creek, CA. We are looking for someone who wants to make a commitment to our team. The goal is to find someone who we can mentor into the Chef de Cuisine / Head Chef position; or potentially hire someone who starts there.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
You will work directly with the Executive Chef (Co-Owner) and be involved in all aspects of running the kitchen. You will be involved in kitchen scheduling, ordering and inventory. This is a working chef’s job. You will be on the line and in the kitchen, not in the office.
You will:
Assist the Head Chef in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen
Collaborate with the culinary team to create and execute menu items
Ensure food quality and presentation meet high standards
Manage food inventory and ordering to minimize waste and control costs
Train and supervise kitchen staff in proper food preparation techniques
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
Coordinate with other departments for Chef’s Table and other catering events
Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations
WHO YOU ARE:
You have:
at least 4 years of previous experience on the line in a similarly fast-paced kitchen
at least 1 year in a sous chef role
some experience in kitchen scheduling, ordering and inventory
a culinary school background, but if not, don’t let that stop you from applying!
worked for a nice sit-down restaurant and not just a café or fast food establishment.
excellent culinary skills, including proficiency in various cooking techniques
a strong work ethic and understand a sense of urgency
a level-headed attitude in leading and motivating a kitchen team
a strong commitment to kitchen organization and quality
You are:
a quick thinker and problem solver
comfortable working under pressure
detail oriented
a clean freak
You can:
speak, read and write in a clear and grammatical manner in English
ideally speak Spanish but not a deal breaker if you can’t
easily commute to downtown Walnut Creek 6 days/week
