Companion Bakeshop is hiring for our retail locations in Santa Cruz-Westside & our Aptos Bakeshop.

We are looking to add to our front of house cafe team barista/retail cafe workers. We are looking for friendly, engaging people who are comfortable initiating and holding conversations with customers and other employees. The barista is the first greeter for customers walking in the door. They have an uplifting attitude and are aware of the mood and the physical flow going on around them, and know how to set/reset the mood on the floor. This person also works all the roles behind the counter serving pastries and bread to customers, and enjoys their job connecting to fellow employees and the community.

Expected hours between 20-30/wk.

$16 base rate Plus tips approx $5-6/hr

Requirements:

-Loves drinking and talking about coffee

-Remains collected and focused under pressure

-Loves pastry and bread

-Clear, effective communicator

-Has a hustle speed

-Willing to receive and give constructive feedback on work relevant subject matter

-Available early mornings

-Reliable and prompt

-Works very well in a team

-Is self motivated and doesn’t need someone telling them to look for tasks during downtime

-Is interested in learning about world renowned sourdough bread and pastries

Bonus qualities:

-Minimum 2 years in either a pourover or espresso making role

-Someone who wants to grow within a lead role, either coffee or other leadership

-Flexible schedule

-Someone who has restaurant line cook or prep cook experience

-Someone who is familiar with Cat & Cloud coffee

Availability Requirements:

-Must be available Saturdays & Sundays

-Must work a minimum of 3 days per week
