Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Part-Time Prep Chef to join our culinary team at Songbird Parlour. The ideal candidate will work closely with our Executive Chef, and other kitchen staff to ensure the highest quality of ingredient preparation, supporting our commitment to fresh, local, and sustainable cuisine.
Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients for service, including washing, chopping, and portioning vegetables, fruits, meats, and other food items
Follow recipes and prep lists created management
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the prep area and walk-in coolers
Assist with inventory management and proper storage of ingredients
Ensure all prepped items are properly labeled, dated, and stored according to food safety guidelines
Collaborate with the culinary team to minimize food waste and maximize the use of local, seasonal ingredients
Assist in the preparation of house-made sauces, dressings, and other components as needed
Support other kitchen staff during busy periods if required
Maintain knowledge of our menu items and their components
Adhere to all health and safety regulations
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a prep cook role
Strong knife skills and knowledge of various cutting techniques
Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to read and follow recipes and prep lists accurately
Good time management and organizational skills
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
Passion for local, sustainable cuisine and farm-to-table concepts
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with farm-fresh, seasonal ingredients
Experience working in from-scratch kitchens
Knowledge of Sonoma Valley's local produce and culinary culture
Schedule and Compensation
Part-time position, averaging 20 hours per week
Schedule may vary based on restaurant needs, primarily Wednesday through Sunday
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $20-$22.00 per hour DOE
Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
