Bar Shiru in Uptown Oakland is one of the most unique and dynamic bars in The Bay Area. It is the first hi-fi listening bar in The Bay and one of the first in the United States.
We are currently seeking an experienced bartender with a passion for hospitality. Deep knowledge of crafting cocktails, classics and spirits is a must. But beyond making great drinks, hospitality, warmth of service and a collaborative spirit are of the utmost importance. Prior experience in high-end, high-volume bars/restaurants required. Looking for someone who wants to grow with us. Passion for music and vinyl a huge plus.
-Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
-Making signature and classic cocktails with speed, consistency and precision
-Interacting with customers with kindness, knowledge and respect
-Opening preparations, including setting up wells, cutting garnishes, stocking fridges, batching cocktails, making modifiers, etc.
-Keeping back bar and wells clean, stocked and organized
-Accurately taking orders and closing tabs on a hospitality-focused POS system
-Rotating into other service positions to cover breaks and absences (i.e., be a team player with no attitude), including serving drinks, bussing tables, hosting duties, etc.
-Keeping glassware and bar wares clean and stocked during service
-Closing tasks like shutting down and deep cleaning wells, wiping down the bar, pour rails and back bar, re-stocking for the next service
Requirements:
-Saturday availability (please do not apply if you are not available on Saturday night)
-Warmth, kindness and empathy towards teammates and guests
-2-3 years minimum experience as a bartender in a high-end, fast-paced bar or restaurant
-Speed, skill and cleanliness behind the well
-Extensive knowledge of spirits, classic cocktails and modern bartending techniques
-Reliable and punctual
-Good communication
-Open to Feedback
-Proactive problem solving
-Zero ego and zero drama
