We are a high quality and fast paced Tiki bar and full restaurant on the Santa Cruz wharf.
Weekday dinner shifts available. Weekend lunch and dinner shifts available. Spring break, summer, and weekend availability required.
Expo Job Description:
-The expediter is the heart of service. They communicate with the servers and cooks to control ticket times, food quality/appearance, and ensure the lead ticket (s) are in fact going out first. They’re in charge of checking on long-time ticket items and problem solving when items are needed “on the fly”. [Example: you have 3 of the 4 items for the ticket and need a steak to complete the check but you don’t see one on the grill, the expo needs to ask the cooks if they have one working and if not make them start one and then inform the server of the delay and about how much longer it will be until the food touches the table] The expediter needs to be loud and confident enough to call for hands; then give servers/busser proper seats and table numbers for them to run the food out. 90% of the time the expediter needs to be stationed at the window, but they will occasionally need to follow out with plates for large parties. The expo will be in charge of their “station” and the closing down their area, which includes (but is not limited to) changing out pans, refilling sauces, wrapping/labeling properly, wiping down, and sweeping/mopping of their area.
Expo Qualifications:
-Ability to effectively communicate in both English and Spanish
-Knowledge of expediting in a large/fast paced kitchen
-Experience as a Expo, Food Runner, or line cook. Server experience is a plus.
-Ability to hold at least 3-4 large plates while walking swiftly, up to 20 lbs
-Knowledge of food allergies
-Ability to stay calm during a rush
