Job Summary
The Floor Captain/Assistant General Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional dining experiences by leading the front-of-house team and ensuring seamless service. This individual combines leadership, customer service excellence, and in-depth menu knowledge to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere reflective of the restaurant's Spanish tapas tradition.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership
- Supervise and support servers, hosts, and bartenders during service.
- Train and mentor team members on service standards and menu offerings.
- Coordinate staff assignments to optimize efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Resolve on-the-spot service issues professionally and effectively.
2. Service Excellence
- Greet and engage guests, ensuring a welcoming experience.
- Oversee table assignments and monitor dining room flow.
- Ensure all guests’ needs are met promptly, including special requests.
- Uphold and enforce high standards for cleanliness, presentation, and timing.
3. Menu Knowledge
- Possess an expert understanding of the menu, including Spanish tapas, wine pairings, and specialty drinks.
- Provide recommendations to guests based on dietary preferences and taste profiles.
- Communicate daily specials and seasonal offerings effectively.
4. Operations Support
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Monitor inventory of service tools and supplies, reporting shortages as needed.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to share updates, goals, and priorities.
- Handle cash and credit transactions, ensuring accurate billing.
5. Guest Relations
- Address and resolve guest complaints or concerns with tact and efficiency.
- Collect guest feedback to improve service quality.
- Build rapport with regular patrons to foster loyalty and repeat visits.
Requirements:
8 years minimum experience serving or bartending in a fast paced, wine driven establishment
General understanding of all major wine regions and varietals
Must be available to work late nights and weekends.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
California Serve Safe certification.
Must have a passion for wine and a commitment to elevating your own wine education.
Knowledge of Lightspeed POS system is a plus
