North Light, a full-service restaurant and cocktail bar in Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood, is hiring a General Manager. The position is full-time, with four floor shifts and one admin day.
Open since 2019, North Light has won Best Cocktails in the East Bay two years running and has also been awarded Best Bartender in the East Bay the last three years. We were recently named Best Bar of 2024 by Nosh.
We serve seasonal Californian fare paired with an ambitious cocktail program in a friendly, warm setting.
This is an untipped position with a salary of $80-95k (DOE) + benefits, including:

We are looking for a General Manager who seeks to both manage and lead a team of 17 while demonstrating a combination of warmth, care, and business acumen.
The right candidate is curious, works quickly and efficiently, and is comfortable leading both a management team & staff. They are passionate about cocktails, food, and wine – but especially cocktails as they are the driving force of our business. They possess a desire to drive an already successful bar to new heights.
Minimum two years’ restaurant (or bar) management experience is required.
North Light is located on Telegraph Avenue (a major bus route) and is a 10 minute walk from MacArthur BART stop. There is ample, non-metered parking in the surrounding area.
