Do you love being with dogs? Like, really LOVE it?
Are you interested in learning about how they think and interact?
Are you already working with dogs, but looking for a better fit?
Can you pick up stuff, like poop or a 60lb dog?
Do you have a clean driving record, and at least five years of solid driving experience?
Do you take pride in your work?
You might be our new team member!
As a Driver Attendant, your primary job is to drive our van to pick up dogs, and transport them safely to our 5000 sq. foot indoor/outdoor play space. Then you play with dogs for four hours, and drive them home again. Sound simple? It kind of IS.
Besides playing with dogs, it will be your responsibility during playgroups to clean up after them, including not gonna lie a decent amount of poop pick-up. We all do it. Poop, pee, and barf: you’re going to deal with them. No biggie! If that doesn’t bother you, then we will be happy to teach you how to supervise dog play, reinforce recall and other rewardable behaviors and manage less desirable behaviors using science-based training methods. The job also requires light cleaning.
But in between that other stuff, there is a lot of PLAYING WITH DOGS. You will spend a lot of time actively engaged with the dogs, in manageably-sized groups, with other handlers present. If you are already working with dogs, then you might enjoy our stable population of regulars, in a safe, clean, and private space with lots of fresh air and views of nature. No random dogs or random people!
Interest in learning more about dog behavior is a BIG plus, but no professional dog-handling experience is necessary. We will train you. This is a full-time W-2 position, scheduled Monday through Friday approximately 10am-5pm every day. There is a three-month probationary training period during which time you will earn $21 per hour; after that your hourly wage will be reassessed based on your experience and qualifications. If you already have a lot of pertinent experience and training goes more quickly, we can reassess sooner. We pay weekly, offer many paid holidays including a long winter holiday break, and after a year you will receive paid vacation time in addition to your earned PTO.
