Hi All! We are Good To Eat Taiwanese Cuisine, located in Emeryville, close to West Berkeley. It's a chef-led indie restaurant, also a women- and queer-led business operation. We serve a Taiwanese-flavor-inspired small plates menu known for clean, layered, seasonal flavors with a rotating menu. We are proud to serve small-batch craft food daily with hospitality that puts humanity back on our floor with our guests.

We are a team of 12, with BOH and FOH working closely together. We are proud of what we do and the community we have built. Now, we have a FOH position open and are looking for an energetic new team member to join us. [About the Restaurant]

Good To Eat Taiwanese Cuisine started as a pop-up for 5 years and had a lot of followers. After transitioning into a restaurant (now 2 years in), we have been listed as an essential restaurant in the East Bay, featured in The New York Times food critic column with a full-page article, and selected as one of the Bay Area’s Top 50 Restaurants.We are a chef-driven, craft food, small-batch-made small plates restaurant and sake and beer bar. We are very proud of our working culture—we embrace positivity, serve customers with the intent of building a craft-minded community, and all share a passion for serving good food and good drinks with new flavors.We are a close-knit team—every night feels like a great time working together to put on a great show. [The position we open this time: HOST position ] :

Part-Time to start

- 2 days a week minimum - must be available Friday & Saturday dinner shifts (4:0010:15 PM)

-Most of our team members are full-time. If everything works out, we will likely convert you to more hours gradually.

Host Responsibilities:

-Greet customers

-Assist customers with getting on the waitlist, including assessing wait times, setting expectations, and inviting customers to our waiting area

-Assess customers’ urgency or special needs

-Seat customers as soon as tables are available, including bussing and resetting tables when needed, and notifying customers in parallel

-When seating guests, welcome them to the restaurant, introduce who we are to new guests, and share updates or specials with returning guests

-Help on the floor whenever there is downtime

-Prior full-table service experience is required (If you don't have experience but are willing to learn, please specify in your cover letter)

[Ideal candidate for this Host & Server position]

1. Host experience – Preferably in a busy restaurant with long wait times. You should enjoy the challenge of managing the waitlist and seating guests efficiently.

2. Strong multi-tasking skills – You should enjoy the fast-paced hospitality industry.

3. Efficiency & teamwork – We value efficiency and supporting each other. If you like working at a fast pace and being part of a professional, sports-team-like dynamic, you will be a great fit!

4. Experience – You must have either host experience in a busy restaurant or full-table service experience. Having both is preferred.

5. Alignment with our values – We prefer candidates who understand and appreciate our mission. Ideally, you have dined with us or 6. know about us—please mention this in your cover letter if applicable.

6. Familiarity with indie restaurants – Understanding the difference between chef-driven restaurants vs. corporate/chain service is a plus. If you're already a fan of indie restaurants, you’ll likely be a great fit.

[Compensation and Hiring process]

- paid per shift or per hour . this position share tips . we are a pool tips house. BOH and FOH work tightly together.

- Hourly rate / or per shift rate will based on your experiences

- Staff meal, staff discount

- After tips the average pay range from $28$32

[Hiring Process]

2. Interview + Paid Stag Shift – Selected candidates will be invited for a paid trial shift (3 stag shifts total, covering both floor and host positions).

3. Final decision & onboarding – If hired, there will be an 8-week probation period with necessary training.
