Mill Valley Pasta Co. has a need for a part-time prep cook for our pasta company in San Rafael. The prep-cook will work Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and some Thursdays as needed, from 8 am until approximately 4 pm. The primary job is to produce provisions, sauces, and prepared items along with our Prep Chef. We are not a restaurant, we manufacture pastas and sauces, so the pace is similar to catering where there is big production of one or two items a day in most cases. You must have professional kitchen experience, and ideally a culinary degree is preferred (not required though). The Prep Cook is on their feet standing for up to 8 hours a day. Candidates must complete a paid trial shift before being hired.
Working knowledge of processes such as hot pack canning/jarring are a plus, and candidates should be comfortable with general kitchen equipment such as ranges, ovens, steam kettles, cryo-vac machines, food processors, blenders, etc.
Mill Valley Pasta Co. is a small but rapidly growing artisan pasta company located in the North Bay in San Rafael We currently sell our pasta at 7 different farmers markets, online, through a few dozen retailers, at our small factory store, and at our new retail store in Downtown Mill Valley.
Applicants should speak fluent and conversational English, and being bilingual is a huge plus. You must be a legal citizen or have working papers for this position.
Starting pay for this position is $22/hour. All Mill Valley Pasta Co. employees are given a weekly pasta allowance, and may be eligible for a Public Transportation Stipend, Bridge Toll Stipend, or non-vehicular transport Stipend depending on their travel to/from work.
