POSITION SUMMARY
This position prepares food according to established recipes and procedures and follows all safety and sanitation guidelines. They assist with a variety of routine preparation tasks including prepping ingredients, and putting together simple entrees such as soups, salads, and sandwiches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with stocking and organizing daily and weekly deliveries and setting up kitchen stations.
Keeps all ingredients organized and easily accessible. Ensures that all food and other items are stored properly.
Prepares ingredients for cooking including cleaning, cutting, peeling, and mixing.
Measures ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking.
Prepares menu items according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, portioning, and food preparation checklist.
Responsible for the setup, operation, breakdown, and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
Performs basic cooking tasks, such as toasting, roasting, baking, steaming, heating, and boiling.
Follows all kitchen sanitation and food service safety standards.
Maintains a clean and orderly kitchen; May need to assist with washing dishes, sweeping/mopping floors, and taking trash out.
Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, including counters, tables, utensils, and equipment.
Maintains and inspects kitchen supplies and equipment; reports low inventory and needed repairs to Kitchen Supervisor.
Performs other kitchen duties as assigned.
SKILLS
A passion for creating great food
Brings a cooperative “CAN DO ATTITUDE” and works well with peers and managers
Knowledge of basic cooking and prep techniques
Ability to learn and safely operate Cafe equipment
Ability to work standing for long periods in a kitchen environment
Good communication skills including listening, speaking, and reading
Takes direction and follows instruction with attention to detail
High accuracy rate in completing customer orders in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment
Must be available to work a varied schedule including weekends and holidays
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Experience in a Restaurant Kitchen
Must provide a Food Handler Certification within 30 days of hire
