I work at a local nonprofit (ICA Fund) that is supporting various small businesses (often 1-5 people only!) in hiring staff.
The key to success in working at a small business is FLEXIBILITY of what you can do.
- A cafe might only have one person (you!) at a time - so you need to be able cashier and do light final food prep and plating.
- Even if you're head chef at a kitchen, on any given day, the other cook might be out, so you need to be able to not just develop recipes, but jump in to prepping, cooking, and packaging for shipment.
This is an open application call for all front of house and back of house folks. Right now I'm hiring for roles from executive chef to cashier to warehouse staff, at businesses in both San Francisco and East Bay. When you fill out our application, YOU get to set your wage, location, and schedule preferences, and I'll reach out if we have a match.
So really, I encourage anyone to apply if you meet these qualities:
1) You are flexible, ready, able, and willing to pitch in to help get the work DONE
2) You take PRIDE in a job well done
3) You are highly self disciplined and can SELF MANAGE
Compensation, schedule, location
I'm hiring for multiple roles, so in the application, you will tell me what you want to get paid, what schedule fits, and your location preferences. I'll reach out if there's a good match!
Also: A great perk of working at a small business is that often, business owners can also be flexible to try to accommodate you, and you can help shape the culture and processes in the organization from the ground up!
