North Light, a full-service restaurant and cocktail bar in Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood, is hiring a part-time server. 2-3 shifts are available to start, with consistent opportunities to pick up more via coverage or shifting schedules.
Open since 2019, North Light has won Best Cocktails in the East Bay two years running and has also been awarded Best Bartender in the East Bay the last three years. We were recently named Best Bar of 2024 by Nosh.
We serve seasonal Californian fare paired with an ambitious cocktail program in a friendly, warm setting.
This position starts at $16.89/hour and will earn tips in the FOH tip pool.
Our health insurance program, available after 90 days of employment, is through Kaiser. We use Guideline for our 401k hosting and Gusto for our payroll, with direct deposit occurring on the 5th and 20th of each month. A meal and drink are provided with every shift worked and we have a generous discount policy for staff coming in on off-days.
The right candidate is consistently warm and friendly and can handle a section of up to 10 tables in a fast-paced, high touch manner. They are passionate about cocktails, food, and wine – but especially cocktails as they are the driving force of our business. They possess a desire to be a contributing member on a very strong team of hospitality professionals. Cross-training as a bartender is an option available, but not a requirement.
Minimum two years’ restaurant/bar experience is required.
North Light is located on Telegraph Avenue (a major bus route) and is a 10 minute walk from MacArthur BART stop. There is ample, non-metered parking in the surrounding area.
