Loquat is now hiring for one pastry baking position.

Loquat is a new bakery that opened in October 2022!

Our goal is to source, prepare and serve the highest quality of ingredients and pastries. While honoring and exploring jewish traditions and levantine flavors. We hope to bring positivity, compassion and connection to our workplace and community through food and beverage.

Our success is dependent on building a strong team and we are searching for someone to join our tight knit bakery staff. This is an opportunity to be on the opening pastry team at loquat, with room for growth and leadership potential.

You must be organized, have a keen eye for detail and a sense of efficiency. You must work well in a team setting, but also excel in an independent environment.

Some things you may be required to do on a daily basis:

Scaling ingredients

Restocking ingredients to ensure the kitchen has a smooth flow

Mixing a variety of cookies, doughs, cakes, fillings etc…

Working in production

Baking cakes, cookies, and other pastries

Preparing ingredients for the following day

Laminating doughs and puff pastries

Write a prep list to ensure that all components are delivered for service

Unloading food/product deliveries

Helping to keep the kitchen and production space clean and organized

Execute pastry menus developed by pastry management

Help other pastry members when needed

Maintaining an organized, safe, and clean work environment

Working with others and communicating with kindness

Acting as an ambassador and exemplary member of the cafe neighborhood

qualifications

you must possess:

excellent communication skills

the ability to work well in a team setting, as well as work well independently

the willingness to pitch in wherever needed

the ability to think on your feet

the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

professionalism and poise at all times

consistent punctuality

a minimum of two professional references

a minimum of 1 year relevant experience

the ability to work full time, the majority of which are on your feet

the ability to to lift up to 50 lbs

potential compensation / benefits include:

starting rate based on experience $22-$24 + share in the tip pool (avg $2-$5 an hour)
