Start Date: March 2025, interviews are starting now for this position. The family will be returning from a year overseas and expects this role to begin no later than 3/15/2025 but could start earlier at the beginning of March.
Schedule: 30 to 40 hours weekly. The general schedule is Monday to Friday. This can be for a Chef seeking part time or full time hours. Ideally the chef will be open to preparing some meals remotely for the family to warm up themselves. The hours are flexible with an emphasize on preparing healthy dinners for 5 to 7 nights a week, some lunches, daily snacks that are grab and go and shopping and keeping the refrigerator and pantry stocked.
Service Style: The chef will typically prepare meals that are family style for dinner, serve the table, clean up the kitchen and allow the family to finish their meal and clean up the remaining dishes. This is a warm , casual family of 4 who are seeking a chef who will focus on preparing lunches, snacks and dinner for the family. On occasion, the chef will be asked to cook for guests and formal plating may be asked of the chef with table service.
Compensation: The family is offering market rate for a private chef ranging up to $75 an hour. They are open to speaking to chefs who may have a higher hourly rate requirement. This is a non-exempt position where the chef will be offered a weekly guarantee of hours and be paid an hourly rate. The family is open to also providing health benefits and the traditional benefits of up to 10 days paid vacation, some holidays paid with the day off and sick days according to state and county laws.
Key Responsibilities: The family is returning from a year in Europe and is seeking a chef who will prepare daily fresh meals with unprocessed ingredients. The chef hired should have developed relationships with local vendors for produce and protein. The employers are seeking a diet that is farm to table with fresh ingredients. This is a new position in the household. The parents are hard working professionals outside of the home with two children ages 8 and 11. The main meal the chef will prepare is dinner but the family seeks a chef who will do the shopping for all meals, stock the refrigerator and pantry with healthy snacks, robust salads and prepare lunches for an active household to grab and go.
Experience Required: Seeking a trained chef who ideally has a minimum of 2 to 5 years experience working for a private family for a minimum of 1 year.
We are seeking local chef candidates who ideally live within a 1 hour commute to Santa Rosa. This is an hourly, live out position and all candidates should be local to be considered.
