Mago is currently seeking a pastry chef to join our small team. Founded by Chef Mark Liberman, Mago is a hospitality first environment, creating a safe and fun work environment for all, while never sacrificing on the quality of the product served. We are a fine dining restaurant offering a contemporary expression of Colombian and Latin American cuisine, utilizing the delicious ingredients of Northern California through a daily changing tasting menu 4 nights a week, Wednesday-Saturday.
The ideal candidates are eager to learn and grow with our team. Our kitchen team is very small and we are looking for someone that can really embrace being a part of our team. Must be a charismatic person who is comfortable speaking with guests, running food to tables and working in an open kitchen. The right chef should be self motivated, a go-getter and able to step in wherever is needed as we are a small team that relies on quick action.
Candidates must be reliable, motivated, hardworking and have a commitment to service.
Preferred Experience:
Strong knowledge of contemporary and classical pastries
Experience in menu development, cost control measures and ordering
Work closely with the chef/owner and welcomes ideas and suggestions as an opportunity to learn and grow
Michelin-starred experience preferred
Able to work in high pressure in an open kitchen
Implement new menus for daily service and special events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability work in an ever changing environment, our menu changes daily
Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a fine dining kitchen.
Current Food Handler Permit.
Positive attitude and team mentality
Have excellent organizational skills and be be able to manage priorities
COMPENSATION: Competitive pay and health insurance for full time employees after 60 days. Four day work week, daily meal.
