Sous Chef / Senior Cook – Private Events & Culinary Projects

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated culinary professional to join our team in a Sous Chef–level position. This role is ideal for a cook with at least five years of kitchen experience who is ready to step into a leadership path and grow alongside Chef Jessica on a wide variety of projects.
This position focuses on private dining, catering, and high-level culinary events outside of the day-to-day café operations. The right candidate will bring strong technical skills, professionalism, and an eagerness to contribute creatively in a collaborative environment.
The Role
Collaborate directly with Chef Jessica on private events, pop-ups, and chef-driven projects such as:
Pebble Beach Food & Wine
Big Sur Food & Wine
Outstanding in the Field
Farm-to-table dinners
Multi-course tasting menus
Themed dinners and special events at the café
Execute seasonal, trend-forward menus featuring the best of California’s farms, fisheries, and producers.
Take ownership of prep, plating, and event execution in dynamic environments.
Contribute ideas and creativity while maintaining high standards of organization and consistency.
Qualifications
5+ years of professional kitchen experience (sous chef level or ready to step into it).
Proficiency in knife skills, kitchen organization, multitasking, and time management.
Current knowledge of culinary terms and trends.
Friendly, collaborative, and professional personality.
Passionate about food, eager to learn, and driven to grow.
