Job Details
Sushi Preparation and Culinary Excellence:
On-call/part-time event-based position, leading to a full-time position with growth opportunities within the company.
Each shift lasts for 6-8hrs.
Events take place throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Engage with customers during classes, providing clear instructions and insights into sushi-making techniques.
Deliver exceptional customer service to enhance the overall guest experience.
Adapt recipes based on customer preferences and special requests.
Attend monthly training and meeting sessions with the management.
Kitchen and Sanitation Duties:
Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout service.
Ensure the cleanliness of all equipment and the kitchen environment in accordance with industry standards.
Inspect food preparation areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
Inventory Management and Coordination:
Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and other kitchen supplies.
Assist with ordering and receiving fresh ingredients, ensuring quality control.
Work in coordination with the Head Chef and other team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
Qualifications
Must have at least 3 years of experience working as a sushi chef.
Punctual, friendly, and customer-oriented with a professional attitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and command great communication skills, both oral and written.
Own a vehicle to travel to event locations throughout the SF Bay Area and has reputable references and industry experience.
Ability to use and learn a variety of mobile apps, including chat, scheduling, and communication.

Compensation Details
Hourly Rate
$30 per hour.
Minimum wage compliance as per California state laws.
Overtime
Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate for hours worked beyond 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week, and double-time for hours worked beyond 12 hours in a single workday, as per California labor laws.
Performance Bonuses
Eligible for yearly performance-based bonuses, subject to company and individual performance.
Benefits (in accordance with California State Law)
Sick Leave
Per California law, eligible employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, with a minimum of 24 hours or 3 days per year.
Meal and Rest Breaks
Mandatory 30-minute unpaid meal break if working more than 5 hours in a shift, and a 10-minute paid rest break for every 4 hours worked, as required by California labor regulations.

Paid sushi education, discounted fish purchases from the vendors, sushi staff meal when available.

As a W2 employee in California, you will be entitled to all employee protections provided under state and federal law, including minimum wage, overtime, and sick leave. Your employment is "at-will," which means that either you or Breakthrough Sushi may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice.
