About us:
Cooper-Garrod Vineyards at Garrod Farms offers wine tasting and horseback riding in the Saratoga Foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Garrod family arrived on the property in 1893; and 5 generations later, we are both a winery and a working horse ranch. We grow all of our own grapes organically here on the property, and do all the winemaking here as well, using certified sustainable farming practices.
Our spacious outdoor Garden Patio is open for wine tasting and small bites. We follow all safety rules and guidelines available to make our outdoor winery experience one that is both safe and enjoyable for both staff and guests.
We are looking for welcoming, hard working folks who fit in with our rustic, authentic farm atmosphere; who enjoy wine, service, and meeting new people. Previous restaurant service or sales experience a plus. You do not need to be a wine expert! We are more than happy to teach as we go.
The job:
- Greet and be friendly with customers (good customer service is key!)
- Serve wine and small bites
- Educate customers about - and sell - our wine!
- Communicate clearly with fellow staff
- Use our POS software (we use OrderPort, a winery software) (we will train on this).
- Maintain an orderly, clean work space; including glass polishing and sanitation practices
- Work weekends: Saturdays and Sundays. We are ONLY looking for weekend help right now.
- Work 3 weekend days a month
- 6-8 hour shifts; $16.50/hour plus tips and commissions for Wine Club sign ups.
You Must:
- Be over 21
- Be able to stand for 8 hours
- Be able to lift 40 lbs (the weight of a case of wine)
- Be able to work weekends, at least three days a month.
- Obtain Responsible Beverage Service certification within 60 days of hiring; and pass a Sexual Harassment Prevention Certification course.
- Follow any and all Covid protocols as required by various gov’t entities, when applicable.
A strong candidate is:
- A people person! Personable & respectful.
- Reliable and punctual.
- A responsible wine consumer.
- Experienced in sales, the service/restaurant profession, and/or in retail.
- Comfortable with learning/using our iPad POS software (OrderPort).
