The Fiscal Officer will work under the general direction of the Chief of Administrative Services, managing and overseeing the department’s financial operations. This pivotal role includes providing financial direction for the department, ensuring that all fiscal activities align with strategic objectives and comply with regulatory standards. The Fiscal Officer will contribute significantly to budgeting, monitoring, financial reporting, procurement, and expenditure tracking.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, public administration, accounting, economics, finance, or a closely related field.
Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a managerial or an accounting position performing fiscal or budgetary analysis, at least two years of which must have included responsibility for budget preparations and control.
Selection Process
1. Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
2. Online Virtual Interview: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an online interview. In the oral interview, candidates must achieve an overall passing score of 70% or higher. The interview will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the Departmental Fiscal Officer position. These may include, but are not limited to: Analyzing & Interpreting Data, Delivering Results, Innovative Problem Solving, Displaying Ownership and Accountability, Professional Integrity & Ethics, Informing, Building & Maintaining Relationships, and/or Leadership.
