Library Aide - Exempt
The Library Department invites those who are interested to apply for positions at community libraries throughout the Contra Costa County Library system. This current recruitment is for the Technical Services Department located in the Administration building at 777 Arnold Drive in Martinez, CA that is currently hiring for an aide to assist with receiving.
Appointments to this classification are on a limited-term, hourly basis. No permanent appointments may be made in this classification.
Typical Tasks
This class is designed to accomplish necessary and useful non-professional work in a library. Sorting and returning books, periodicals, and other library materials to proper places on shelves; packing and unpacking books; straightening and correcting the order of books on shelves; accepting returned books and assessing overdue penalties; charging out books utilizing an automated library circulation system.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to:
Follow written and oral directions
Properly file both alphabetically and numerically
Learn office procedures and practices
Aptitude for library work
Lift up to 50 pounds
Deal effectively with the public
