About the Position:
The Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District is seeking an experienced and dedicated Operations Supervisor to join our team. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, this position provides direct supervision and guidance to Vector Control Technicians and Inspectors, ensuring effective delivery of vector management programs throughout the county.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, leading teams, coordinating complex field operations, and contributing to public health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and train field staff in vector control operations, safety, and pesticide use.
Oversee daily field activities, perform quality control inspections, and ensure compliance with District policies.
Coordinate with other agencies regarding enforcement, abatement, and field projects.
Conduct performance appraisals and assist with employee development.
Manage pesticide usage records, equipment maintenance, and operational reports.
Support community education and interdepartmental collaboration.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of accredited college coursework preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in vector control or a closely related field.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid California Driver’s License and insurable driving record.
Vector Control Technician Certifications (Categories A, B, C, and D) within two years of employment.
FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate within one year of employment.
California DPR Unmanned Pest Control Aircraft Pilot Certificate within two years of employment.
Working Conditions:
Work performed in varying outdoor conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and uneven terrain.
Must be able to lift 50–65 lbs. and operate vehicles and equipment including ATVs, trucks, boats, and drones.
