Behavioral Health Residency (LCSW, LPCC, LMFT, or LEP)

Position Description: This paid opportunity offers valuable field experience within a School-Based Health Center (SBHC), employing an integrative practice framework for multi-system interventions. As a dedicated Social Worker, Counselor, or Therapist Resident, you will work closely with an on-site supervisor as an integral member of an interdisciplinary behavioral health and wellness team. This internship provides a conducive environment for individuals pursuing licensure in California. Under licensed professionals' guidance, residents can actively contribute to delivering behavioral health services, gather requisite clinical and non-clinical hours, and receive individual or triadic supervision toward becoming a LCSW. LPCC, LMFT, and/or an LEP.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Engagement and Assessment:

Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations to determine clients' behavioral health needs.

Collaborate with licensed professionals to develop and implement person-centered treatment plans.

Individual and Group Therapy:

Provide individual and group therapy sessions under supervision, applying evidence-based therapeutic techniques.

Assist in facilitating psychoeducational and support groups to address various mental health concerns.

Crisis Intervention:

Participate in crisis intervention services as needed, working closely with the supervising team to ensure timely and appropriate support.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client sessions, progress notes, and treatment plans in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Assist in keeping client records in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Collaboration and Consultation:

Collaborate with other behavioral health team members, including psychiatrists, nurses, and support staff, to ensure coordinated care for clients.

Engage in regular consultations with supervising professionals to discuss cases, interventions, and professional development.

Professional Development:

Actively participate in individual and group supervision sessions as required for licensure.

Attend relevant training and workshops to enhance clinical skills and stay informed about current practices.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field OR Current enrollment in a Master's level program in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field from an accredited institution (approval from Practicum Coordinator or Advisor)

On-Pathway or Eligibility to register with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as an Associate Social Worker (ASW), Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (MFTI), or Professional Clinical Counselor Intern (PCCI).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Commitment to cultural competence and sensitivity in working with diverse populations.

Emergent knowledge of therapeutic modalities and counseling techniques.

Emergent knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing behavioral health services.

Preferred skills

Bilingual abilities in one or more: Spaninsh, Laotian, American Sign Language, Arabic, Mandarin, Portuguese, Tagalog, Urdu, Vietnamese

Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Flexibility to work during regular business hours, including some evenings and weekends residency rotations (via telemed).
