Hello! I'm a mid-30s man w/ a spinal cord injury hiring personal care attendants for both regular & backup shifts. Right now I'm looking to hire 1-2 people for 2-4 regular shifts a week (the day/shift doesn't matter; my other help is flexible). Also, hoping to train a few people for backup shifts in case one of my regular folks is sick or needs time off.
Prior caregiving experience is helpful but not required. Please send me your availability, your experience, the best way to get in touch, and any references. Thanks!
DETAILS:
Mornings: 5:30-9 AM (weekdays), 7:30-11 AM (weekends)
Evenings: 1 hour, starting between 8-9 weeknights and 9-11 Fri/Sat
Pay: $29.50/hr
Attendants must enroll in In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) and pass a background check: IHSS pays $19.50/hour and I give an extra $10/hour.
IHSS providers are also eligible for benefits and overtime with enough hours.
AM Responsibilities:
- Stretches
- switching & cleaning catheter bags
- Pivot transfers to/from wheelchair
- Bathroom assistance (includes bowel care)
- Showering & shaving
- Dressing
- Breakfast prep

PM responsibilities:
- Toothbrushing

- Undressing & positioning
- switching & cleaning catheter bags
Also weekend AM and all PM shifts may include housekeeping, laundry etc, with an extra hour or two if you're open to it.
What I'm looking for in an attendant:
- Responsible & thorough
- Timely
- COVID Boosted & willing to mask on the job
- Good communicator
I'm located in Oakland Chinatown, near BART stops and an 880 off-ramp.
There will be some training shifts with my experienced attendants, and I've worked with and trained total first timers before. No worries if this is your first attendant gig!
