Hi there!
We’re looking for a gentle and motivated person to provide basic caregiving for a 57-year old man recovering from stroke. My husband is a sweet, funny, and talented guy who is regaining his speech and mobility with daily practice. His basic needs include:
- Help with dressing
- Stretching and strengthening exercises for his arm and leg
- Supervision with walking (he uses a quad-cane and ankle orthotic)
- Preparing breakfast and overseeing his meds
In addition, I work part-time and would appreciate some help with light household tasks, e.g., daily swiffering, emptying the dishwasher, making the bed.
The routine is fairly simple and straightforward, so we're really seeking the "right fit" as a companion. We can train you and make sure everyone is comfortable. (You're also welcome to chat with past caregivers who can attest to how wonderful this position is!)
Please respond if:
You have some experience caregiving. Please describe this.
You are fluent in English, are reliable, and have common sense.
You're physically fit, and able to assist with daily exercise (he's a smaller person).
You have a positive outlook and a good sense of humor.
You like dogs (ours is loving and well-behaved - and maybe a little bit spoiled.)
Bonus points if you're a musician or you just enjoy listening to and talking about music, bands, etc. Good conversation skills and the ability to listen are important.
The position would be about 15 hours a week, late morning to mid-afternoon Monday-Thursday with a preference for someone who can occasionally offer additional hours on Friday. For the right person, we can offer a bit of flexibility within this basic framework.
