The Humane Society of Sonoma County is looking for a High-Level Registered Veterinary Technician with Surgical Experience including the ability to run surgery.

This person should have 5 years of veterinary surgical experience because responsibilities include overseeing surgical services and training programs as well managing surgical schedules, developing and implementing HSSC training programs and ensuring the efficiency of our patient flow.

This RVT position also requires high quality, humane animal care while maintaining the highest standard of medical care for a busy community veterinary clinic. Specifically, our Spay/Neuter team provides a crucial service to our shelter animals and our community and HSSC’s public-facing Community Veterinary Clinic – CVC provides low-cost medical care for individuals in our community who qualify based on low income.

This position performs pre-surgical exams, inducing anesthesia, monitoring animals under anesthesia, recovering animals from anesthesia, and oversight/training of vet assistants. It also assists the DVMs with exams, perform diagnostics, treatments, anesthetic procedures, will communicate treatment plans with animal owners, will discharge patients, and will perform other tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum five years experience surgical experience and an exceptionally mature and hard-working attitude for this position.

$22.00 – $26.00 per hour DOE
