We are seeking a live-in caretaker to assist our elderly mother with driving and basic household tasks, such as grocery shopping, taking out trash to the building pickup area, and other tasks requiring strength. At this point in time she is able to perform basic hygiene tasks on her own.
What’s included:
Room and board in a 1970s Tiburon complex.
A monthly stipend of $2,500 or more, based on performance.
Requirements:
14 hours a week of dedicated help in the form of rides, meal prep, light household duties.
Must be strong enough for potential transfers from bed to standing, or couch to standing.
As part of payment you must be willing to sign up as her IHSS worker, as she is a retired school teacher with macular degeneration, and is allotted 2200a month via IHSS (In Home Support Services) which requires a 1.5 hr orientation training and fingerprinting. The rest will be paid privately.
Ideal candidate:
Bonus points if you’re creative or a present/past Burning Man attendee as our mother really only likes to talk about Burning Man and the like.
What to know:
We are not a wealthy family, our mother lives in section 8 housing, albeit it is a beautiful area of Tiburon, but the accommodations are modest, not luxurious and our mother can be a very difficult person to be around at times, as she can be mean spirited. That said this would be an ideal opportunity for someone that doesn't take things personal, and is looking for an opportunity for free housing and supplemental income in Marin.
