Looking for caring individual to help care for my elderly mother. Duties include light meal prep. - heating up something in the microwave mostly and nothing fancy, medication reminder, drive mom to store once per week (if you drive & have your own car- not required), check in on mom to evaluate well being, help with bringing in mail & packages, letting out two small friendly dogs to fully fenced in backyard as needed, help feeding dogs, help cleaning up after dogs, and general socializing with mom.
My mother lives with me and I travel out of town 1-2 times per month usually 2-3 days at a time. I mostly need someone present to look after mom and help her when I’m away. I generally know these dates at least a couple of weeks in advance.
In exchange for about 60 hours/month- no more than this and likely less, a lightly furnished garden setting separate in-law unit behind our house with private entrance would be your space to call home. In-law is well lit with large windows, has its own bathroom with shower, small kitchen with large refrigerator, newer twin size bed, comfortable chair & side table, folding table & chair, fan, heater, and clothes closet. Clean and quiet. Easy parking. Safe neighborly neighborhood. This is an unpaid position but allows for flexibility should you have another job or schooling. Ideal situation for a student.
Most important aspect is that when I’m out of town you be present - check in around 5pm, check back in 2-3 hours, and then just sleep in in-law the nights I’m away meaning, you’re close by if mom needs you.
Mom’s memory isn’t as good as it used to be, but mom is still with it, uses a power scooter, is kind, has a good sense of humor, is pretty independent, but needs a little extra help having been in a car accident six years ago that left her handicapped.
