Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Chief Integration Officer and Chief Medical Officer. The Psychiatrist will provide essential mental health services to our diverse patient population. The psychiatrist will diagnose, treat and manage a range of mental health disorders, while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans. The Psychiatrist will work part-time, 10-20 hours per week.
Qualifications:
Current valid, unrestricted California licensure as a physician and board-certified in psychiatry.
Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification.
Minimum of two years of experience in the provision of psychiatric services.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Spanish fluency is highly desirable.
Computer skills, including the ability to effectively utilize electronic health records.
Proven ability to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse client population.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and a professional demeanor and must represent the organization in a positive manner at all times.
Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships.
Must be able to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
Must be able to be at work regularly and on time.
Must be a dynamic self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently or in a group setting.
A can-do attitude, attention to detail, ability to organize and set priorities, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Must have good computer skills using Microsoft Office and the ability to use Axis management systems.
Must be able to use office equipment (i.e., copier, fax, etc.). Must be able to type with minimal errors.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Maintain an ongoing patient load as cases are referred from both primary care and behavioral health.
Conduct initial assessment and follow-up sessions as necessary.
Complete documentation using the electronic health record in a timely fashion while adhering to related laws and regulations for documentation.
Track patient progress and utilize screening measures as required.
Monitor and coordinate the delivery of health services for clients related to integrated behavioral health care, including linking with other treatment providers not only within the primary care setting.
Assist the primary care provider in recognizing, treating, and managing mental health and psychosocial issues and contribute to the primary care team.
Provide consults for primary care medical providers or BH staff as requested.
Work in conjunction with a consulting psychiatrist as needed.
Provide training to medical or IBH staff as requested.
Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and training events as assigned.
Provide all services in accordance with accepted standards of care and Axis protocols within the parameters of agency contractual requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in a typical clinic office work environment (and, in some cases, telecommuting sites). Physical: Occasionally required to carry/lift/push/pull/move up to 20lbs. Occasional travel to other Axis health centers and other occasional travel will be required.
Equipment: Frequently required to use repetitive motion of hands and feet to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, copier, and other office equipment for extended periods.
Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and signage. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with staff etc. Must be able to speak clearly, understand normal communication, and be understood. Must be able to see clearly and have the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships to see objects where and as they actually are.
Cognitive: Must be able to analyze the information being received, count accurately, concentrate and focus on the given task, summarize the information being received, accurately interpret written data, synthesize information from multiple sources, write summaries as needed, interpret written or verbal instructions, and recognize social or professional behavioral cues.
Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office (medical clinic/office) environments. Rare exposure to dust and loud noises.
