Harbor Veterinary Hospital in Santa Cruz is seeking a tech assistant. The tech assistant is responsible for assisting Veterinarians in the care of animals. The Assistant helps during initial examinations by restraining animals when necessary, stocking examination and surgery rooms with supplies, sterilizing tools and ensuring that equipment is in working order. In this position you will assist in surgery, perform clinical procedures, prep samples, process radiographs, and so much more. Tech assistants also communicate with clients (pet owners) and update patient files.
Employee must be able to MULTITASK, lift 35 lbs, work independently, write legibly in medical records, communicate professionally on phone and in person, input client/patient data into computer program and file accurately. Terminology may be learned on the job but will be subject to exacting standards. Ability to read and then spell medical terms and drug/prescription names is necessary.
