About Emani House

Emani House is a supportive, trauma-informed children’s residential program dedicated to empowering youth with mental health needs. Our mission is to provide safety, stability, and compassionate care while supporting youth with life skills development, mental health stabilization and community engagement. Emani House is seeking a compassionate, professional and strong applicants eager to impact the lives of youth in the child welfare system.

Position Summary

The Resident Counselor I is responsible for providing direct supervision, guidance, and care for youth with identified mental health diagnoses. This role ensures a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while assisting residents in daily living activities, participating in treatment planning, and supporting their academic, medical, and social needs.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide continuous supervision of residents to maintain safety and emotional well-being.

- Support youth in developing coping skills, healthy habits, and pro-social behaviors.

- Implement behavior support strategies consistent with agency policies and treatment plans.

- Administer prescribed medications in accordance with agency protocols and state regulations.

- Maintain accurate documentation of medication logs and report concerns to clinical team

- Safely transport youth to school, medical appointments, therapy sessions, community outings, and recreational activities.

- Participate in provider meetings, team meetings, and treatment planning sessions.

- Maintain daily logs, incident reports, and required documentation accurately and timely.

- Assist with planning and supervising social, educational, and recreational activities.

- Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential environment.

- Follow all agency policies, licensing regulations, and crisis intervention procedures.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred.

- Experience working with youth or individuals with mental health needs strongly preferred.

- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.

- Ability to pass required background checks, including fingerprinting and child welfare clearances.

- Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
