Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Preadmission Unit Supervisor, the Principal Admitting Worker is primarily assigned to the Pre-Admit Unit but may rotate or be assigned to any area or site as outlined in the Admitting Department Expectations. The Principal Admitting Worker is responsible for financial clearance of scheduled admissions and surgical procedures, identifying any potential authorization issues that place the patient and/or organization at financial risk. Duties include screening surgical case entries/orders, verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, and ensuring authorizations are secured. The Principal Admitting Worker is required to have general knowledge of health insurance plans with an understanding of the authorization process. The Principal Admitting Worker must be able to effectively communicate with physicians/clinic staff, the applicable Medical Center ancillary department, and/or review organization(s) as required, maintaining a high degree of professionalism. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role. Admissions, Discharge, and Transfer work experience.Knowledge of office machines; typing 30 wpm. and basic PC skills.Basic Medical Terminology knowledge.Excellent Oral/Written Communication.
