We’re Treeswift (treeswift.com), an NYC-based startup building AI-powered systems for utility fieldwork. Treeswift is revolutionizing decision-making for critical energy infrastructure in the face of rising threats like severe storms and wildfires.

In the U.S. alone, hundreds of thousands of miles of transmission lines and millions of miles of distribution lines need to be carefully monitored and maintained to reduce hazards. The largest of these hazards is interaction with vegetation that can cause outages or fires. With the rapid growth of renewable energy this infrastructure footprint is expected to more than double in the coming years creating more assets to defend than ever before.

Treeswift’s mission is to deliver scalable technology to manage large-scale distributed infrastructure, starting with managing the risks posed by vegetation to power lines and extending to asset management, construction planning, and disaster recovery. We deliver transformative impact to our customers by innovating across the technical stack. LiDAR and imagery data is collected by sensor packs mounted on backpacks and vehicles that seamlessly integrate into customer operations. We then deploy AI to transform raw data into actionable analytics delivered to decision-makers in our software platform. After just a year and a half since our first utility pilot we are working with three of the five largest utilities in the United States and rapidly expanding our footprint across new customers and use cases.

We’re hiring experienced, dependable field contractors to help execute deployments across the U.S. You’ll be boots-on-ground, working long days in variable terrain, with cutting-edge tools that help keep power infrastructure safe.

The work:

Walk 3-5+ miles/day in terrain ranging from suburban streets to remote mountain trails

Use our wearable LiDAR system to collect high-resolution utility corridor data

Drive to and between job sites - often on unpaved or off-road routes

Coordinate daily routes and data uploads, flag field issues, and communicate clearly with our ops team

Serve as our face in the field - this isn’t a passive gig; you’ll be customer-facing and mission-critical

What we’re looking for:

2+ years field-based experience (environmental surveys, USFS/NPS/BLM crews, military, logistics, etc.)

You’re a self-starter who thrives outdoors and doesn’t need hand-holding

Comfortable with extended travel (50-75%) and irregular hours

Reliable driver with valid license; experience navigating rural or off-road areas

Detail-oriented and team-first mindset

Safety certifications or tech (LiDAR, GPS, GIS) experience is a plus

Details:

$30-40/hour depending on experience

Paid lodging, per diem, and gear provided

Travel-heavy contract role; 3-month minimum with potential to extend

Start date: ASAP

Fully remote when not deployed; must be near a major airport

Work is project-based, with steady flow through the rest of the year
