TITLE: Ranch Hand
REPORTS TO: Ranch Supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: n/a
OBJECTIVE: Ranch Hand is the person who will conduct the completion of grounds maintenance tasks and functions. Perform a variety of tasks required for the upkeep and care of the company grounds. The primary areas of responsibilities are Harlan Estate Forest & woodlands as well as all above ground and underground infrastructure.
PURPOSE: To provide a safe work environment and have aesthetically pleasing grounds and forest
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the completion of specific tasks and to ensure quality standards are met
Ensure that equipment is maintained in good working condition and stored in a properly manner
Receives work orders. Follows through to ensure completion of work order.
Ensures all daily maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely, cost-effective manner and according to specifications.
Ensure that all safety precautions are taken
Ensure that company policy is followed as stated in Employee handbook
Should a conflict arise, you must report to your Supervisor.
Available to work on Holidays if requested
Will be able to transfer positions if asked to.
Operates power trimmers, blowers, and other similar pieces of machinery.
Tree cutting throughout the forest & woodlands
Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood throughout the forest & woodlands
Brush chipping, log splitting and weedeating
Use of heavy equipment, including operation of a wood chipper
Perform all other related duties as assigned
Loads, unloads, moves, and carries grounds related supplies and equipment.
Assist with Harvest
Maintenance and building of hiking trails
Install and repair infrastructure
Repair and installation of fences and gates
Picks up trash and debris in assigned area by hand, vacuum, sweeper, or power blowers.
Digging of ditches & trenches
Assist with Vineyard, Facilities and Landscape projects as needed.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
All employees must follow all Company safety rules.
Any injury and/or accident, regardless of severity, must be reported immediately to the appropriate manager or supervisor or to Human Resources.
If injured, and when requested by Domain Services, LLC, the injured worker must visit the Company’s designated occupational health provider for a medical evaluation to determine fitness for duty
Where required, and without exception, employees must wear/use mandated PPE
Machines without adequate guards or guards in questionable condition must not be used and reported to supervisor
Hazardous conditions and other safety concerns must be reported immediately to the appropriate manager or supervisor
Failure to follow the rules may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagraph form
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from manager or supervisor
Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
Must be highly organized with attention to detail
Ability to function effectively under pressure in environments of rapid change and conflicting demands
Knowledge of safe and effective in use and maintenance of mid-sized equipment (chainsaws, weed whackers etc.) and heavy equipment (loaders, excavators etc.)
Willingness and ability to work flexible hours when needed, including weekends and evenings, and come in for emergency situations

Ability to accurately distinguish colors
Ability to work in the rain if conditions allow
WORKPLACE CONDITIONS:
Seasonally wet and cold outdoors conditions
Seasonally sunny and hot Napa Valley conditions
Moderate climate
Uneven terrain and hillsides
LOCATION & COMMITMENTS:
Full time Monday-Friday (40 hours per week) at our Oakville property
Breaks & Lunch: 1st (10 minute) break at the third hour, 30-minute lunch at the fifth hour and 2nd (10 minute) break at the seventh hour (subject to change by California law)
Overtime and weekend work may be required (especially during Harvest season)
