General Description
The Maintenance Leader will oversee our maintenance operations, particularly for our sous vide cooking and packaging equipment. This role is essential in building a world-class maintenance team and ensuring operational efficiency. The Maintenance Leader will ensure that our facilities and equipment are always in top condition to meet customer demands.
Essential Duties
Manage the activities of the maintenance department and collaborate with the Production Manager to schedule preventative maintenance.
Build and lead mechanical and preventative maintenance teams to maintain production equipment, optimize line efficiency, and manage parts inventory.
Oversee outside contractors performing installations and projects at the facility.
Interface with other departments to ensure customer deadlines are met.
Develop, recommend, and implement measures to enhance production methods, equipment performance, and product quality to increase efficiency.
Maintain accurate time and maintenance records.
Develop capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology improvements.
Establish, maintain, and negotiate favorable terms with operational vendors and service providers. Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
Oversee safety team activities and monitor compliance with safety requirements.
Foster a positive work environment and promote team collaboration by training and coaching team members. Collaborate with HR on any personnel concerns.
Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred.
5+ years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong knowledge of maintenance processes, equipment, and safety protocols.
Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
Proficient in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
A valid Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Required to use hands and fingers to operate a variety of objects, tools, equipment, vehicles, and other motorized equipment.
Stand, climb, stoop, kneel, crawl, bend, walk, reach and crouch.
Handles the physical demands of the job, including standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 pounds.
The job may require climbing ladders or moving around in tight spaces.
Use specialized equipment ranging from pressure washers to painting tools, and they should wear appropriate safety gear in such situations.
Schedule
Monday to Friday and some weekends as needed.
Hours may vary depending on the business needs.
The position is based in our Oakland and San Leandro plants. Occasional travel as needed for inspection of equipment and/or training.
