Job Summary
Acapulco Rock & Soil is a full-service supplier of landscape materials, decorative rock, soil, sand, gravel, and construction aggregates. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily operations and drive the strategic direction of the company. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership and business acumen with hands-on operational expertise. This role oversees all major functions, including the yard, mechanic shop, packing area, fleet, registers, and delivery operations to ensure efficiency, profitability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
Oversee all physical and logistical operations across the yard, mechanic shop, packing area, fleet, registers, and delivery departments.
Manage daily yard activities, including material handling, product organization, and customer support.
Supervise and coordinate the mechanic shop, ensuring timely maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
Oversee packing operations for bagged and pre-packed materials, maintaining product quality and accuracy.
Manage fleet operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and DOT compliance.
Ensure delivery accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Oversee registers and POS operations for accuracy, cash handling, and customer service.
Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment across all departments.
Strategic & Financial Management:
Develop and implement strategic plans to improve overall business performance.
Identify opportunities for cost control and growth.
Drive process improvement initiatives to increase productivity and efficiency.
Collaborate with sales and purchasing to align operations with company goals.
Team Development & Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and motivate staff to achieve operational excellence.
Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, safety standards, and company updates.
Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
Continuous Improvement & Business Development
Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to guide operational strategy.
Support business development and sales initiatives through operational readiness and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in an operations management role or similar capacity.
Strong leadership and people management skills with a hands-on approach.
Background in logistics, project management, or industrial operations.
Knowledge of yard operations, fleet maintenance, and material handling preferred.
Strong strategic planning and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) A must.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced outdoor and warehouse environment.
