Sonoma County Regional Parks has 60 parks and beaches to offer, from Petaluma to Gualala and Sonoma to Bodega Bay. With wild landscapes and miles of trails. Others feature sports fields, playgrounds and campgrounds. Regional Parks manages the county's largest ocean marina and largest extracurricular environmental education center.
As a Parks and Grounds Maintenance Worker II, you will perform various construction, maintenance, and repair tasks. You are responsible for; performing landscaping duties, such; as pruning, mowing, planting, weeding, and installing and repairing irrigation systems. As s Parks & Grounds Maintenance Worker II, you will help maintain Sonoma County Regional parks, grounds, bike trails, buildings and community centers, and marinas for the betterment of our community, Additionally, you will coordinate and conduct safety and skills training for other Parks Maintenance Workers and may act as a lead worker on special projects.
This recruitment is being conducted to fill two Parks & Grounds Maintenance Worker II positions in Regional Parks. This employment list may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, or extra-help (temporary) positions as they occur during the active status of the list. An ideal candidate will possess a valid class C driver's license, thrive working in a fast-paced environment, be able to shift-gears quickly, and have many of the following:
Multiple years of experience working in landscaping, construction and performing grounds maintenance
Experience using mowers, string trimmers, and blowers
Knowledge of plants and irrigation timer programming
The ability to establish and grow effective working relationships with staff, court referrals, and volunteers
Sound judgment and the ability to make independent decisions
Problem solving skills and the ability to be a self-motivator
A passion for maintaining nature, providing excellent customer service and assisting others in the community
