Family owned and operated winery and vineyard seeking part-time farm hand for 2 months of employment.
Small 10 acre vineyard just outside downtown Sebastopol is seeking a driven and physically able farm hand. Part-time position with roughly 3 days a week of work. The days of work are somewhat negotiable but prefer Wednesday-Friday (3 days in a row). The position is for 2 months of employment, no more length of employment is guaranteed. This is an outdoor position in the elements with a relatively high physical demand. Must be able to lift 60 lbs, stand/bend/move for long periods of time and exert energy throughout the course of the day. Position is continually supervised and will work alongside the winemaker and property assistant. Must be willing to perform vineyard and farm work early morning to avoid working in the hottest part of the day. Main duties include but not limited to: weed-eating with string line trimmer, shovel work digging out bad weeds, tree trimming, fence repairs, trellis repairs, post hole digging, post cementing, setting T-posts, tucking canes for canopy management, irrigation checks, and tending to new and old vines. Vineyard/farm experience is not necessary but preferred. Personal protective equipment will be provided. Ideal candidates will enjoy working outside with hands and power tools, have proper clothing/shoes/hat, know how to stay hydrated and come to work with a positive attitude.
This is not for extended employment, short term position of 2 months at 3 days a week. Starting wage at $20 per hour, higher wage possible based on experience, speed of work and accuracy completing tasks.
