We are a small family run business that owns and rents a few properties in the Santa Cruz area. We are looking for a permanent part time or full time employee to perform general maintenance and repair tasks year-round as well as assist with general construction during renovations. You will be working alongside the owner, under supervision, but gain more independence as experience and trust build. This is primarily a manual labor position, although the strenuousness will vary day to day (see more below) and it could turn into a more skilled position if you show good work ethic and interest. We will provide guidance and training as needed. We are willing to accommodate a flexible schedule, for example varying days per week or hours per day, as long as there is consistent communication and tasks are being completed in a reasonable amount of time.
Work will vary throughout the year but should be expected to include:
yard maintenance - fencing, mowing/weed wacking, planting, pruning, sprinkler repair
painting, spackling, drywall repair, caulking
cleaning windows and gutters
demo & dump runs
on rain days we do tool/equipment maintenance, warehouse organization
assistance to owner with more involved construction tasks primarily carpentry but also sometimes basic plumbing and electrical (you dont need to have experience in these items, you just need to be willing and motivated to help)
Requirements:
Must have valid drivers license and vehicle to meet and use at job sites, truck required
Must be comfortable operating gas equipment (ex. weed wacker, blower) and power tools (ex. drill, circular saw)
Must be able to lift materials weighing 50+ lbs, for example unloading truckloads of construction supplies
Trustworthy, reliable, punctual, self-motivated
