Ruby Hill Winery is a local family owned business with a long history of wine production, focused primarily on estate fruit from our home vineyards. We produce 11 varietals including a mix of French and Italian grapes. This job is dynamic, and you will spend your time working with a small team of friendly people in order to produce high quality wine throughout the harvest season.
This is a seasonal job that starts as soon as possible, and will last until the end of the harvest season (generally mid to end of November). You will experience almost every aspect of the winemaking process during this time, taking fresh grapes all the way to finished wine aging in barrel. Details of the position are below.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This job requires no previous experience.
As a Harvest Intern, you will be on your feet most of the day on concrete.
The majority of the work is inside the cellar, or on a shaded crush pad outside.
Most of the work involves cleaning processing equipment, sorting fruit on a processing line, or filling barrels using a wine pump. Other work may be required, but cleaning is a core part of the position.
There is overtime potential throughout the season. You will need to be available for a minimum of 8-10 hours a day Monday-Friday. Some weekend or additional overtime work may be available but is not required.
You will gain firsthand experience in every aspect of the winemaking process from vineyard to barrel.
Total crew size will be 4-6 people.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work in confined spaces and high places while observing safety protocols
Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly
Work with chemicals that require protective equipment (goggles, etc)
Ability to sit, stand, and walk on uneven surfaces for extended periods of time
Perform work duties in and outdoors
Work long hours (10+ hours a day)
