As a Behavior Assistant, you’ll assist in the instruction and training of students from all disability categories. These include supporting neuro-diverse students who may need additional emotional and behavioral assistance to succeed in the classroom.

We are seeking individuals who can start at the beginning of August 2024.

Successful applicants will be able to:

-Assist in the instruction and training of students with from all disability categories, including those with severe disabilities and/or emotional/behavioral disabilities.

-Support with educational activities. These may include facilitating the development of academic, perceptual and psychomotor, social/behavioral, self-help, provocational and vocational, adaptive, and speech/language skills.

-Support with other activities including the delivery of related services such as behavior management, accompanying students on field trips and community outings, and hygienic assistance and care, including activities related to toileting and eating.

-Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to meet student needs and reinforce classroom objectives.

-Assist with management of high-risk students who have behaviors that directly impact their access to education.

-Supervise students inside and outside the classroom.

-Communicate with all supervisory and instruction support staff in a professional and courteous manner.

-Perform specialized physical health care services (e.g., tube feeding, catherization, tracheotomy suctioning and administering medication) when indicated in accordance with provisions in the Education Code.

-Carry out student services (e.g., crisis prevention/physical management, CPR, discreet trial, occupational/physical therapy, inclusion/main streaming) under supervision of a credentialed staff member.

-Transport and escort students as needed to various assigned activities.

-Maintain professional confidentiality when working on sensitive student information.

-Perform clerical duties that may include filing and duplicating materials, maintaining student records, computing and recording data, and operating audio-visual and computer equipment.

-Provide additional support with student after school programs.

-Perform other duties as assigned based on student and program needs.

Duties may involve strenuous physical activities such as lifting students from wheelchairs. Training will be provided, as appropriate, in other services (e.g., crisis prevention/physical management, CPR, discreet trial, occupational/physical therapy, inclusion/main streaming).

Minimum Qualifications: We are seeking individuals who have relevant experience working with special education students. Additionally, you must hold a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent (i.e., GED) and hold ONE of the following:

1) a bachelor’s degree OR

2) an associate degree OR two years of study at an institution of higher education (i.e., have earned 72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours) OR

3) pass a qualification exam (if needed, UI will help you schedule this exam at no cost to you)

Applicants must also have current authorization to work in the United States - Authorization status must be in effect by their first day of employment.

If you are offered and accept the role, you will need to successfully complete a fingerprint background check and submit a negative TB skin test.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
