The Day Warehouse Supervisor provides for the daily supervision of day warehouse staff to ensure the safe, clean and efficient operation of a fresh organic produce warehouse while maintaining high quality product standards with minimal product loss. The Day Warehouse Supervisor leads warehouse staff in fulfilling their role as organic product handling experts.
Responsibilities
·- Determines staffing needs and participates with Warehouse Manager in hiring
·- Ensures day warehouse team carries out correct receiving, storage and shipping procedures, efficiently and accurately
·- Leads staff in safety best practices and ensures a consistently green, clean and safe work environment
·- Guides warehouse staff on correct product handling and facilitates appropriate instruction and certification for staff development
·- Participates in product handling systems development for continuous improvement of warehouse operations
·- Motivate, coach, counsel staff to create functional teams. Assess training needs and conducts/leads regular team huddles/meetings to relay general information or address specific topics.
Qualifications
We are looking for a cooperative, flexible individual who is meticulous, efficient, able to work both independently and as a team member, and is a superior communicator. Candidates must have:
2+ years supervising staff in a warehouse environment.
Experience with receiving, stocking, handling and shipping fresh produce and
MUST HAVE at least 1 year of experience with organic produce.
Experience with and knowledge of material handling equipment and safety best practices in a warehouse environment.
Good math, analytical and database skills.
Physical requirements involve lifting up to 55 lbs., working in cold coolers and being able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
