Steamer Lane Design is hiring a Production Assistant to work in laser engraving, product assembly, and shipping. We are located on the westside of Santa Cruz and make laser engraved wood magnets, keychains, ornaments and pins for gift shops and National Parks around the country.
We are hiring for morning shifts, which begin at 5 or 6 AM
This is a full time position, 4 or 5 days per week. Shifts are generally 8 hours long, but there is flexibility for students or folks with complicated schedules. Days of the week are flexible.
Starting pay is $20/hr. Full time employees (30+ hrs/wk) receive a 401k with 4% employer match and 3 weeks per year of PTO/sick leave. We're a growing company and we're looking for someone who wants to stay long term!
A typical day includes:
Operating laser engravers (training will be provided, no experience necessary).
Assembling pins, keychains and ornaments.
Gluing magnets to wood pieces.
Packing and shipping orders.
The majority of your time will be spent running laser engravers and assembling small products. Assembly requires fast hands, finger dexterity and an eye for detail. There is a strong focus on quality control and efficiency. The tasks can be very repetitive, but a pair of headphones and good podcasts make the day go quickly! There is no customer service in this job.
