Steamer Lane Design is hiring a Production Assistant to work in laser engraving, product assembly, and shipping. We are located on the westside of Santa Cruz and make laser engraved wood magnets, keychains, ornaments and pins for gift shops and National Parks around the country.
We are hiring for morning shifts, which begin at 6 AM
This is a full time position, 8 hours per day and 4 or 5 days per week. Days of the week are flexible but must include Friday.
Starting pay is $20/hr. Full time employees (30+ hrs/wk) receive a 401k with 4% employer match and 3 weeks per year of PTO/sick leave. We're a growing company and we're looking for someone who wants to stay long term!
A typical day includes:
Operating laser engravers (training will be provided, no experience necessary).
Assembling pins, keychains and ornaments.
Gluing magnets to wood pieces.
Packing and shipping orders.
The majority of your time will be spent running laser engravers and assembling small products. Assembly requires fast hands, finger dexterity and an eye for detail. The tasks can be very repetitive - imagine gluing the same part 1,000 times in one shift.
You’ll be working with a small team in a steady work environment where you’ll stay busy from start to finish. There is a strong focus on quality control and efficiency. There is no customer interaction, and you can listen to music with headphones while you work. If you’re motivated, dependable, and ready to be part of a dedicated team, this role is a great fit.
