Brekhus Law Partners, an established real property law firm, is seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Assistant or Paralegal to provide high-level support to our attorneys. This position is ideal for a professional with prior experience in a law office who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain the highest level of accuracy and discretion. The office is conveniently located in Marin County’s Larkspur Bon Air area close to Highway 101 and the Richmond Bridge.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting our litigation and transactional practice. This role requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to anticipate the needs of attorneys and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files to ensure immediate accessibility and compliance with court rules
Manage attorney calendars, track deadlines, and coordinate client meetings and court appearances
Prepare, proofread, and file legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, and trial binders
Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit lists, witness coordination, and logistical support
Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Provide general administrative and operational support to ensure smooth office workflow
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of law firm experience
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to quickly learn new software
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities under deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills, professional demeanor and reliability
Knowledge of Clio or similar case management/timekeeping software strongly preferred
Experience with Dropbox, Judicial Council Forms and e-filing systems such as OneLegal, TrueFiling and/or File & ServeXpress

Work Schedule & Compensation
Part-time: approximately 3 days per week in office
Preferred schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible for the right candidate)
