Position Description

Under the Chief Operating Officer’s direction, the Director of Philanthropy and Advancement leads Aldea’s fundraising efforts by cultivating relationships with donors, community partners, and key stakeholders. They collaborate with Executive leadership to design and implement comprehensive development strategies, executing various fundraising, marketing, public relations and community engagement initiatives. Success in this role requires exceptional communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to represent the agency as an extension of the executive office. The ideal candidate will be proficient in relationship building, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement, with a high degree of detail-orientation, discretion, and tact. The Director should be a dynamic, results-oriented professional passionate about the organization’s mission, with a proven track record in fundraising and relationship building. They should possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications:

1. Candidates must possess the skills necessary to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a Master’s degree preferred; however, a comparable combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.

2. General knowledge and an understanding of best practices in human services, which may be gained through job experience, training, and lived experience.

3. Organized, detail-oriented, accurate, proactive, efficient, and able to grow a development program.

4. Experience with donor relations and ability to develop relationships with private and/or corporate funding sources. Grant-writing and program development experience desired.

5. Strong computer and applications skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office programs required (Outlook, Excel, Teams, PPT, Word) and programs such as Canva, Adobe, Classy, and Salesforce (preferred).

This position will perform duties from Aldea Solano and Napa offices.
