Position: Marketing and Storytelling ManagerReports To: Senior Director of Marketing and External RelationsSupervision Requirements: NoneWork Unit: Marketing and External RelationsLocation: San Rafael, CA with regular work throughout Marin and Sonoma CountiesHours: Full-time, salaried, exempt status; hybrid work schedule with alternating 5-day/4-day workweeks; remote work eligible (2 days per week) after successful completion of introductory period. Job Summary: The Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM) seeks a dynamic, self-starter to manage a region-wide marketing campaign and communications efforts. Responsible for marketing, outreach, and storytelling campaigns to promote local foods and climate-smart practices as part of a 5-year USDA Climate Smart Commodities Grant in partnership with the Sonoma-Marin Agriculture and Climate County Coalition. Looking for a design savvy, tech savvy, creative, culturally competent marketing manager. This position is an excellent opportunity to manage various kinds of marketing programs while working for a local, well-known community based non-profit organization. Background: The Agricultural Institute of Marin is an educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in San Rafael, California. AIM's mission is to educate, inspire, and connect communities, responsible farmers and producers as part of a healthy, Earth-friendly, equitable local and regional food system. We envision a responsible food and farming system that is environmentally beneficial, economically viable, and socially just. AIM serves 400+ farmers, food purveyors, and artisans from 40 California counties who participate in AIM's Certified Farmers Markets in the cities of Hayward, Newark, Oakland, Point Reyes, San Rafael, and San Francisco. AIM also provides hands-on and virtual education programs to thousands of children and adults, operates a farm audit program, runs a mobile market for older adults and underserved communities, curates a multi-farm produce box program, and operates CalFresh/EBT and Market Match services to create a healthier, equitable food system across the San Francisco Bay Area.Diversity and Inclusion: AIM embraces diversity and equal opportunity. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:In collaboration with AIM's Senior Director, Agricultural Partners, and Marketing Advisory Committee, responsible for developing a three-pronged marketing strategy including: producer stories, interactive marketing campaign, and climate-smart badge.Plan and develop a strategy to expand markets highlighting regional foodshed that features world-renowned food, fiber, forage, and flowers grown with climate-smart practices in Marin and Sonoma Counties. Engage with local communities, producers, and retailers to increase sales and the numbers of customers purchasing climate-smart commodities through direct-to-consumer channels.Manage the development of a storytelling campaign to communicate to consumers why they should care about climate-smart commodities and develop an interactive online marketing tool that will engage with shoppers through a creative learning experience. Recruit, produce, and publicize 100 stories of climate-smart growers across Marin and Sonoma counties, with an emphasis on small and underserved. Through a story- telling campaign, bring the stewards of the land to life with a focus on producers who value climate-smart practices.Partner with a creative marketing firm to break down the jargon of Climate Smart practices into simple messages understandable by public audiences within budgetary constraints and grant requirements.Produce a variety of video, digital, on-line, retails, in-store, and advertising to communicate the value of climate-smart producers to increase demand for climate-smart products.Communicate with AIM senior management and partners about marketing initiatives and project metrics. Plan and create social media and other advertising programs.Provide support to the marketing department and manage brand and marketing initiatives including: managing online communications and website content, writing newsletters and blogs and growing AIM's Job Board initiative.
