Position Overview:
We are seeking a creative and passionate Social Media Coordinator to manage and grow the online presence of our charity, focusing on creating and managing social media content to boost brand visibility and engagement. In this role, you will develop, schedule, and post engaging content across our social media platforms, building awareness and support for our mission. The ideal candidate will be skilled in storytelling, have a strong understanding of social media trends, be able to inspire our online audience to take action and remarkable with visual and framing photos. The ideal candidate writes clearly, concisely and correctly.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation and Posting
- Develop compelling, mission-aligned content (text, images, videos) for social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok).
- Schedule and publish posts using social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).
- Ensure content is consistent with the voice, brand, and goals.
- Collaborate with teams and management.
Campaign Planning and Execution
- Collaborate with the marketing and fundraising teams to create social media campaigns that support events, programs, and fundraising initiatives and management.
- Coordinate content for special projects, such as Giving Days, campaigns, or awareness events.
Audience Engagement
- Actively monitor comments, messages, and mentions, responding promptly and appropriately to engage the community.
- Foster positive conversations and encourage followers to share and support the charity's mission.
Analytics and Reporting
- Track and analyze social media performance metrics (e.g., engagement rates, reach, clicks, conversions).
- Provide regular reports and recommendations to optimize content and strategies.
- Trend Monitoring and Innovation:
- Stay updated on social media trends, tools, and best practices, incorporating them into the strategy.
- Explore new platforms and content formats to expand the charity’s reach and engagement.
Collaboration
- Work with internal teams, volunteers, and partners to source stories, photos, and videos for social media.
- Ensure alignment with overall communications and marketing strategies.
Compliance and Accessibility
- Ensure all content adheres to ethical guidelines, privacy standards, and platform-specific rules.
- Create accessible content, including captions for videos and alt text for images.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Experience and Knowledge
- Proven experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms and their best practices.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in social media scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social).
- Basic graphic design and video editing skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools).
Communication Skills
- Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to create engaging and impactful posts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with online audiences.
- Stay on top of text and emails
Organizational Skills
- Ability to manage multiple social media platforms and campaigns simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Work Conditions:
- Part-time, Hybrid/On-Site (San Francisco Bay Area only)
- May require occasional evening or weekend availability for events or urgent campaigns.
